Confession
Confession of Ali Ghashghavi
“In a session in early March 1993 in the Babol Intelligence Department, Haji Agharezapour and his deputy, Ghorbanali Sadeghi, and Sayed Mostafa Sed Alipour were briefing him in this regard. They told me to try to choose a place where the organization leadership has the most activity and appears most often for the assassination. For example, they said their leader appears most in [Camp Ashraf’s] Conference Hall and for the assassination it is necessary to carry out detailed recon missions to figure out the method to smuggle weapons and ammunition for yourself.
“They said these measures must take place with numerous recon missions, and after I became certain that I could sneak the weapon inside the Conference Hall, then I should make my move. They also said I should get the weapon from someplace where they don’t have an inventory and an exact count.
“They said if I obtained a weapon, I should hide it in a location where people do not go. They said one of the places where their leader might most probably appear was special ceremonies that they made preparations for beforehand. In such occasions be prepared for a suicide attack because in such occasions most of the times the ceremony is held in an open-air area and controlling the crowd in such areas is difficult.
“About the abovementioned sentence, I mean that in such conditions most of the crowd is outside the roofed area. Also they told me if in the end I didn’t come up with a weapon, even with a knife, I shouldn't lose the chance for the assassination. I was told to try to flee after completing the mission.”
