Mehr News Agency

The Mehr News Agency was established in 2002 by Tehran Times (whois).  MNA and Tehran Times are both managed by the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization (IIDO).

Articles from the paper are rarely reprinted by legitimate news organizations.  In most cases, only an item from a story will be mentioned, at which time the MNA is usually referred to as a “state-run” or a “semi-official” voice of Iranian regime.

Over a recent five year period (2008-13), MNA was mentioned in 160 Associated Press articles.  The New York Times, during this same period, mentioned the MNA 92 times and the Washington Post 63 times.

Mehr News Agency stories are regularly republished in full on MOIS attack websites.  As an example, the Nejat Society posted the entire MNA story, “MEK, A Hated Entity in the View of Iranians,” on January 6, 2013.
